Seeing More Than One Client at Once

Let a practitioner start a second client while the first one rests, as in acupuncture.

Updated October 31, 2026

Some treatments have a resting part. An acupuncturist places needles, then the client rests for half an hour, and that half hour is free to start the next client in another room. Stillpoint can book those visits side by side while still making sure the practitioner is never needed in two places at once.

Turn it on for a practitioner

  1. Open Availability and pick the practitioner.
  2. Under Clients at once, choose how many clients they can have at the same time, from 1 to 4.
  3. It saves right away, with Undo in case you change your mind.

Only owners and admins can change this. At 1, booking works exactly as it always has.

Set the hands-on time on each service

Open the service on the Services page. Under Duration & buffers, choose Hands-on time:

  • Whole visit means the practitioner is with this client the entire time, so nothing else is booked alongside it. Intakes and consultations usually stay this way.
  • First 30 min (or another length) means another client can start once that part is done.

For example, a 60 minute treatment with 30 minutes hands-on lets a second client start at the half hour. The second client's hands-on time then runs while the first client rests.

If start times are set to On the hour, choose Every :30 or Every :15 so the in-between times are offered.

What Stillpoint checks

A visit can sit beside another only when:

  • both are at the same location;
  • their hands-on times don't overlap;
  • neither is a whole-visit service or a class;
  • the practitioner doesn't go over their clients at once.

Rooms are still checked separately, so each client needs a free room.

Online booking

By default your booking page offers these overlapping times too. To keep online booking to one client at a time, turn off Clients can book overlapping times online under Clients at once. Your team can still book overlaps from the calendar.

Tips

  • Lowering clients at once never cancels anything. Visits already booked side by side stay, and new bookings follow the new number.
  • The booking form tells you when a time runs alongside another client, and why a time can't be booked.
