The setup checklist is the dashboard card that guides a brand-new practice through getting fully operational. It tracks the few things you need to do to take your first booking and disappears once you're done.
Setup Checklist
Updated May 6, 2026
What it covers
The checklist walks through, in roughly this order:
- Practice profile: name, contact info, timezone, address
- At least one service: name, duration, price
- Availability: at least one weekly rule for the hours you work
- Booking page customization: a theme and your practice details
- Publish booking page: make it live so clients can book
- First appointment: created manually or received through your page
Each item is clickable; clicking jumps you straight to the relevant page in admin. The checkbox fills in automatically once the underlying step is complete; you don't need to mark anything by hand.
Progress and dismissal
A progress percentage at the top tracks how far you've gotten. The whole card disappears from the dashboard once every item is checked. If you want to revisit any step later, the underlying pages are always accessible from the sidebar.
"Let Clio handle it"
Some checklist items have a small Let Clio handle it action. Clicking opens the Clio chat panel with a pre-filled prompt for that step (drafting a service description, generating availability rules from a quick description of your hours, and so on). You can accept, edit, or ignore Clio's suggestions.
Tips
- The order is just a suggestion. Some practices add availability before services, or vice versa.
- If you skip publishing your booking page, clients can't self-book yet. You can still create bookings manually from the calendar in the meantime.
- The checklist comes back if you delete all your services or availability rules, since you wouldn't be able to take new bookings without them.
