Expand with AI turns rough notes about a session into a structured clinical note. You bring the raw observations, the AI organizes them into the SOAP, DAP, or progress format you've chosen.
Available on Solo and above when clinical notes are enabled.
How to use it
- Open a client's profile and click Add Note in the Clinical Notes section (or open an existing draft).
- Keep the Note Type on SOAP Note and pick the format: SOAP, DAP, or Progress Note. Expand with AI isn't available for Narrative Notes.
- Jot down what happened, either in the note's sections or in one box with Quick Fill turned on. A few sentences or bullets is enough.
- Click Expand with AI.
- The AI rewrites your notes across the format's sections.
- Review, edit anywhere it needs adjustment, and save.
Changed your mind? Click Undo on the confirmation message to put back what you had before expanding.
What the AI will and won't do
The AI is instructed to structure and expand only what you provide, not to add clinical details. Sections you didn't give it anything for are marked "Not documented this session." If you mentioned something briefly, the AI may move it into the right section and write a more polished sentence around it.
You're always in control of the final note. Nothing is saved until you save it, so check the output against what actually happened.
When to use this vs. AI Scribe
- Expand with AI is for after the session, when you have a few thoughts in your head and want them shaped into a note quickly.
- AI Scribe records your dictation or the session itself and drafts the note from the audio. It's a separate add-on. See AI Scribe.
Tips
- The more specific your notes, the better the expansion. "Worked on shoulder mobility" is fine; "Worked on right shoulder mobility, ROM improved 10 degrees, mild discomfort at end-range" is better.
- Use consistent terminology so the model's output stays predictable across sessions.
- Always review the expanded note before saving. AI is a tool, not a replacement for clinical judgment.
